The Votive Day of 13 October

Local tradition links 13 October to the village’s liberation in 1944 and to a vow that the date should be observed collectively. The historical event and the rite are not identical; repetition is what gives the date its special place in the local calendar. Further work is needed to separate the earliest vow from later institutional commemorations.
