Telečka was founded in 1883 by Hungarian families leaving districts repeatedly threatened by floods from the Tisza and Banat waterways. Many came from the area around Szaján and built a new settlement on higher ground. The striking point is not one disaster but an entire village created as a response to recurring fear of water.
