The story of Lemeš Spa often receives a sudden ending: a hurricane-like storm supposedly decided the complex’s fate. Newspaper and local-history accounts, however, give different closure dates and mention later use of parts of the site. “The storm that closed the spa” is therefore a useful example of one vivid memory compressing a long decline.
