The Fernbach manor was built in the 1920s on the estate now known as Baba Pusta. A provincial tourism account explains that Dora Fernbach was nicknamed “Baba” as a child after the doll she carried everywhere. A personal name, a family anecdote and the name of an entire landscape therefore became fused into one local etymology.
